Teave

“Life is more fun when you play games.”

That’s why for this quest we would like to invite you to test some games and to pay a little bit more attention to the details.

Our project team has created a list of recommended games that you can try by yourself:
  • Carcassonne (place tiles)
  • Sushi go (drafting, deck building)
  • Ciudadelas (drafting)
  • Virus (set collection)
  • Alakazum (or Magic, or Roam) (deck building)
  • Werewolf (hidden roles)
  • Age of war, or King of Tokyo (dices to obtain resources)
  • Red7 (change victory condition)
  • Hanabi (cooperative, communication)
  • Pandemic (action points, set collection)
  • Magic Maze (no turns cooperative game)
  • Exploding Kittens (Push your luck)

Online games:

You can explore the wild lands of board games and find out more about each of the listed games (and more) here.

So here’s your quest!

Assemble a team of adventurers, pick 2-3 games that you have available, either from the provided list or from your personal stash - just make sure they’re all different - and then answer the following questions:
  • What is the goal of the game?
  • What are the dynamics of the game (patterns of how the game and the players will evolve over time, leading to winning)?
  • What are the mechanics of the game (rules that govern and guide the player’s actions and the game’s response to them)?
  • What are the rules of the game?
  • What’s the theme of the game (where/when the action is taking place)?
  • What are the game’s materials or elements (map, cards, dice etc.)?

Tip: To learn more about all these game basics, you can check out our manual here, starting at page 10.

Don’t forget to complete the badge tasks below to fulfill your quest, and then proceed to the next playlist activity to continue your learning adventure!
